Shadow Work

There is a part of you that watches quietly from the edges - the unspoken self, the hidden feelings, the truth you learned to tuck away. Shadow work is the art of meeting that presence with curiosity rather than fear.
This self-paced course invites you into a deep, reflective journey through the unseen layers of the self, where insight unfolds slowly and compassion becomes the guide. Through gentle exploration, ritual, and reflection, you’ll learn to turn toward what has been hidden, not to confront or fix it, but to listen, understand, and integrate it into a fuller sense of who you are becoming.

Access to your course materials will begin as soon as you enrol.
Once each unit is complete and assignments are submitted the next will become available allowing you to work through at your own pace. We recommend a minimum of 12 months for completion.

Course Outline

This course unfolds over six in-depth modules, each designed to gently deepen awareness while allowing space for reflection and integration.

Module 1 — Understanding the Shadow Self

Explore what the shadow truly is, how it forms, and why hidden aspects of the self continue to influence thoughts, emotions and behaviour. This module lays a safe, grounded foundation for all the work that follows.

Module 2 — Triggers, Projection & Emotional Patterns

Learn how the shadow reveals itself through emotional reactions, judgement and recurring patterns. You’ll begin to recognise what your triggers are trying to show you — without blame or self-criticism.

 

Module 3 — Inner Dialogue & Parts of the Self

Discover gentle techniques for communicating with hidden or wounded parts of yourself. This module focuses on listening, understanding and building trust within, rather than forcing change.

 

Module 4 — Shadow Archetypes & Inner Roles

Identify common shadow archetypes and explore which patterns may be active in your own life. You’ll learn how these roles once served you — and how they can be integrated with awareness and compassion.

 

Module 5 — Ritual, Symbol & Integration Practices

Work with ritual, symbolism and reflective practices to support emotional integration. This module bridges insight with embodiment, helping awareness settle beyond the intellect.

 

Module 6 — Living with Shadow Awareness

Learn how to carry shadow awareness into everyday life, relationships and decision-making. This final module focuses on long-term integration, emotional maturity and self-acceptance.

 

By the End of the Course…

You won’t be trying to fix or change yourself.
You’ll be learning how to see yourself more clearly, respond more consciously, and live with greater wholeness.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of the Shadow Self and how unconscious patterns influence thoughts, emotions and behaviour

  • Recognise common shadow expressions such as projection, emotional triggers and self-sabotaging patterns

  • Develop increased emotional awareness and the ability to observe internal responses without judgement

  • Use reflective journaling and guided inquiry to explore hidden or suppressed aspects of the self safely

  • Identify personal shadow archetypes and understand the protective roles they have played

  • Engage in gentle inner dialogue practices to build compassion and internal trust

  • Integrate shadow awareness into everyday life, relationships and decision-making

  • Establish sustainable self-reflection practices that support long-term personal growth and self-acceptance

  • Are currently experiencing acute emotional distress and need immediate therapeutic support

  • Shadow work asks for honesty, patience and emotional presence. If that feels too much right now, this course will still be here when the time feels right.

This is a self-paced online course, allowing you to move slowly, revisit material, and take breaks whenever needed.

  • Optional live Zoom sessions with your tutor, Jayne Harris.

  • A supportive learning environment including a dedicated private Facebook group.

  • The opportunity to ask questions and connect with others on a similar journey.

Jayne Harris​ is a trained Counsellor and student of Psychology with over 12 years experience working within the field of Adult Mental Health.

Having retrained she is now also a qualified Master Herbalist, registered member of the Society of Naturopaths (SoN) and currently studying to become a Naturopathic & Homeopathic Doctor specialising in Herbal Medicine and Ayurveda Medicine.
She is also a lifelong practitioner of the Craft.

Throughout your course Jayne will  be available to offer review assignments and give 121 support where needed.

Jayne will also host periodical zoom sessions giving an opportunity to connect with fellow learners and discuss Shadow Work in a safe, supportive environment. Attendance is not compulsory but is recommended.
